Food Aversion, Food Phobia, & Fear of Foods

Food Aversion, Food Phobia, & Fear of Foods

Food aversion, or food phobia’s and fear of eating certain foods is very common. Sitiophobia as its correct name, and leaves the sufferer feeling anxious and fearful about even the thought of eating certain foods.

Food Aversion Creates Problems

Food aversion can create problems with health, especially if the diet is so restricted and devoid of nutrients needed to obtain optimum health.

Birmingham based hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner Debbie Williams has helped many clients overcome their food aversions. One client could only eat food if it was ”white” by that he meant bread, chips, chicken, milk, white chocolate, crisps and not much else. He would gag at even the thought of eating any other foods.

Another client’s food aversion consisted of all of the above and in addition most junk food was ok to eat along with pizza’s and sausages, but no ”green foods” at all.

Food Aversion Can It Be Cured ?

Food aversion can it be cured? Well, rather than saying ‘cured’ or ‘treated’ a better way to put it would be to be ”re-trained” to let go of the anxious feelings a food aversion causes by ‘mapping’ over in the brain to think about food in a different way.

NLP and Food Aversion

NLP can help you to think and feel more resourceful around food. Birmingham hypnotherapist and NLP trainer Debbie Williams has used NLP (or neuro-linguistic-programming) to change how people respond to certain foods and to overcome their fear and food aversion.

NLP, The simplist way of describing it is just like discovering the owners manual for the brain. We have a brain and it’s not user friendly at times. The P of NLP refers to programming and has been taken from computers.

Basically the ‘food aversion’ programme has been running the mind of the sitiophobic and it needs replacing with a better programme where foods that you wish to add to your diet are felt to be acceptable and ok to eat- with NO fear.
