Binge Eating Recovery Client Diary

Binge Eating Recovery Client Diary

Binge Eating Recovery; A clients diary of her journey. Here is an email from a client who has had a run of six good weeks of eating ‘normally’ and healthily and has just had a blip. Her email is  reprinted in full with permission but names omitted.

See my replies next to hers.

Subject: Fw: At least I can laugh about it 6 weeks ago I would be crying!!!!!

Hi Debbie

Had the worst evening and night yesterday…….started eating chocolate and was eating it in bed I woke up next to an empty box of Maltesers!!!.

Debbie replies; Oh yes the chocolate trance!!!

Had a terrible nights sleep and bad dreams as expected, I was really upset and angry with myself but today is a new day.

Debbie replies; Yes leave it all behind.

Today I plan to do all the things you taught me i.e tick sheet, plan, listen to Cd’s etc

Debbie replies; Great this day tends to be the hardest but your anger and annoyance will get you through Good time to write this article ; I’ve binged ‘How did it feel over time’

Debbie continues you may be saying to yourself ”Oh stupid me I binged once last week too, I’m a complete failure,”( don’t take that personally but that’s how it makes you and others feel, catatrophizing the negatives)

” but at least I’m aware and open to learning from it by being kind to myself and eating healthily as I can to cleanse my system of the rubbish.”

Debbie goes on….. As you say you are learning so many good strategies already, its mastery that takes the time…and its so worth the effort and focus, the alternative stinks.

Binge eating Recovery tips

Writing an article of how binge eating makes you feel over time will help you to connect to the real cost of a binge. Asking also what must I learn to move on?

 Binge Eating Recovery Email Continues;

Today I am determined to get back on track and get stuck into the home work etc that we discussed.

Debbie replies ;’Yes and maybe the above article is more important as it will really sharpen your focus.

Thanks for all your help…….I feel like I am almost there….I am convinced it is my PMT causing the problem. Time will tell.

Debbie replies; Good nutrition over time will lesson that too
p.s.I just remembered you said smoothies are the way to go regards sugar hit !!!

Debbie replies; Yes even if you drink the whole dam carton today to get you through today its something your cells recognise as food, not drug/food Great to have it in the plan too.

p.p.s Writing this email has helped me refocus.
