Havening

Havening

Havening, Hypnosis and NLP.

Havening is a fairly new technique developed by Ronald Ruden which Paul McKenna uses and likes to share with audiences on his courses.

Debbie Williams learned from Paul after watching him the last couple of years, having seen him working with and teaching 1000′s of people this technique.

Havening is a developing field which has borrowed bits from TFT and EMDR

It is continually evolving whilst being backed up by science and tested on how we think our mind’s work, store and release trauma.

Birmingham hypnotherapist and NLP trainer Debbie Williams  helped both Paul McKenna and Dr Richard Bandler on over 50 NLP and Hypnosis Courses since approx 1995 whilst being a member of the team and being his personal assistant.

Paul has referred many, many clients to Debbie’s Birmingham clinic over the years, including some of his friends.

You can see what he says about the Birmingham NLP trainer here; //www.debbiewilliams.co.uk

Debbie’s client in the video above was referred to her. She used havening to help Alf’s hands from shaking uncontrollably when he was sent to the Birmingham clinic after his cardio vascular nurse was advised NLP may help him to get over his 60 year phobia of needles and hospitals.

Havening reduces Alf’s fear

Havening really played a big part in helping Alf to reduce his massive phobia of hospitals, doctors, needles and any medical procedures.

Alf’s phobia had been so powerful that he would take his own teeth out with pliers rather than visit a dentist.

Haveneing helped Alf to be calm for his op

Alf had an aneurysm which needed operating on asap as it could burst at any moment.  If that happened and he couldn’t get to hospital within 3 minutes he would die.

So overcoming this 60 year phobia was necessary for the operation to go ahead.

60 year phobia gone

Alfs phobia was installed from childhood when he had to have lumber punctures in his spine and was forcibly held down as any movement may cause tragic results.

That coupled with insensitive and sometimes cruel nurses and doctors who lacked compassion towards him led to this life long phobia of needles.

Havening strategies to help

Birmingham NLP trainer and hypnotherapist Debbie Williams typed out the havening strategy from her notes after watching Paul Mckenna teaching it.

She then cross reverenced it with what he does in his DVD on havening at the back of his gastric band book which he told Debbie had the havening technique on it.

You can buy his book in most UK bookstores or on amazon. If you wanted someone competent in havening if you wished to experience it there are now practitioner trainings in Havening available and practitioners about.

Debbie also studied Ronald Rudens DVDs from trainings on havening and then tested with Alf by doing different versions of havening procedures on him.

She gave Alf’s wife copies of what she had typed out for them to practice every time Alf felt anxious about his operation which they did regularly.

He has had his operation now and is well on the road to recovery.  It has been a real team effort of the wonderful hospital staff who cared for him, his nurse and her team as well as hypnosis, NLP and havening.

Measuring success with havening

With havening (also many NLP that Debbie uses ) you measure the ”issue” on a scale 1-10 with 10 being the top of the scale, you then can see it dropping after each round so you get immediate feedback.

Alf was amazed of how his hands stopped shaking within 3 rounds. It went from 10 to 4 to 2 to 0.

If you are interested in learning more about this you can get Ronald Rudens book on amazon and check out his website here https://havening.org

How to Stop Facial Spasms

How to Stop Facial Spasms

An Enquiry to Birmingham Hypnotherapist

Hi Debbie,

I have had this problem since I was a teenager and Im now 30. Whenever I talk to someone, while Im listening to what they are saying, I get severe facial spasms.

My cheeks and side of my mouth keep twitching involuntarily. This has destroyed my life, I used to be a happy person, being social but ever since this started I am afraid to interact with anyone. I am sick of it and to be honest I dont think I want to live my life like this.

I know nothing about hypnosis but I just read that it might help with this, is it true? Thank you for your time.

Reply From Birmingham Hypnotherapist

Yes I can help you, I often get asked ‘Can hypnosis show me how to stop facial spasms or tics?

My answer is firstly check with your GP to see if there are any treatable causes for this then I answer;

I couldn’t say that we would be able to eliminate the facial spasm or facial tic completely, but I know we will be able to reduce the symptoms and stop it happening so often.

We can also reduce the anxiety so that   when it does go into spasm you are not  so affected or upset by it.

Your spasms have habituated

The facial spasms or tics can become a habit and your brain is expecting it to occur. You think ‘’I hope it doesn’t happen when I meet so and so…  (before an event) Your mind then sees a movie of your face going into spasm and you dread going or find a way to avoid going out completely.

As it now makes you feel bad in advance and this negative spiral reduces your confidence and self esteem and takes any joy out of life.

Hypnosis and NLP can help with spasms

Hypnosis and NLP together will be much more powerful to help reducing the symptoms of facial spasms and tics.
Hypnosis on its own may help or not depending on the experience of the hypnotherapist. It should definitely help with the stress part of the problem.

The NLP  ( I’m a Master Practitioner and Trainer as well as a Hypnotherapist)  is a system of being able to re- programme your mind for solutions and adjusting thinking patterns to be more resourceful.

it can take the ‘sting’ out of a negative emotion/feeling so that you feel empowered again and care much less if your face does spasm.
That along with everything else we do will stop it happening all the time and allow it to fade out as you move on with your life.

Previous clients with facial spasms/ tics

This is what has happened with many other clients of mine.
The spasms or facial tics reduce or go completely overtime only coming back in a much lesser degree when they are stressed about something, which becomes a useful message for them to think ‘what do I need to do to deal with this situation” and as they do that if goes away again.

Where you are at the moment is constantly thinking about ‘your problem’  and facial spasms or tics and your brain cannot process negation and by that I mean, try not to think of the colour blue.

Focusing on what you want

Blue appears there in your mind. This is what you have been doing with the facial spasms.

ie I hope my face doesn’t go into spasms when i….

And your brain sees what you are focusing on

NLP can stop that and hypnosis can help re-build a better prediction for the future. A bit like when I’ve worked with athletes we focus on the internal movie of them winning with no room for the movie of what they don’t want.

What I do is much more specific, detailed and more powerful than Ive explained here but Ive tried to put it in a way that will make sense to you.

Birmingham hypnotherapy costs

Selective Eating Disorder

Selective Eating Disorder

Selective Eating Disorder

Selective eating disorder or SED means the person has an aversion to certain foods, maybe even having a phobic reaction when faced with the food in question.

This may manifest as a feeling of revulsion or even intense fear. This response might also be linked to past reactions such as seeing somebody being sick (or perhaps vomiting themselves after eating this food).

Selective eating disorder can get worse

Selective eating disorder can grow and generalise over many groups of foods and can last a lifetime.

NLP can be very effective in overcoming SED food phobias

A client of Birmingham NLP hypnotherapist had memories  of her mother boiling ham on a regular basis. The unpleasant odour, experienced often enough led her to imagine what humans would smell like being boiled, it smelled to repulsive, it put her of meat for life.

Luckily we can easily survive and thrive on a vegetarian diet, but this lady also gagged at eating vegetables and fruit.

Common foods for SED

Most adults with selective eating disorder focus on fruits, vegetables meat or greasy foods, yet most have no difficulty eating processes junk foods ie crisps, chocolate, cakes ice cream ect ect.

Being selective with foods can be a life protecting response as one ‘poisoning’reaction being able to put them off completely.

Selective eating disorder can start in childhood

Many children, are wary of foods which taste bitter or are unfamiliar, and it is not surprising that adult people can have the same ability.

If the problem has grown from simply being a ‘fad’ to a level that reduces the quality of life, NLP and hypnosis can help add more variety to your diet.

Birmingham expert on SED

Call Birmingham selective eating disorder expert now and book a session 0121 241 0728 or read about the self help recording here;  ‘Overcoming a food phobia”

The kind of selective eating disorder which is due to a fear of choking and inability to swallow, is linked with
extreme sensitivity of the ‘gag reflex’ and a gross exaggeration of the‘tight throat’, or ‘lump in the throat’ response that some people have to anxiety.

People with this response feel incapable of
swallowing  many foods as it triggers the gag response.

Luckily hypnosis and NLP can help neutralise this hyper sensitivity and you can work on it in the comfort of your own home with Birmingham hypnotherapists NLP recording ‘Overcome a food phobia” read more here; http://debbiewilliamsassociates.co.uk/overcome_food_phobia.htm

Help for Jealousy

Help for Jealousy

Jealousy is usually a combination of fear and anger many times driven by insecurity and low self esteem, Birmingham NLP trainer and hypnotherapist Debbie Williams has a self help hypnosis recording ‘Freedom from Jealousy’  which you may find this is more than enough to overcome your jealousy.

Jealousy destroys relationships

Jealousy can singlehandedly destroy any relationship but you can have freedom from jealousy and a life where healthy relationships can grow deeper and stronger.

Debbie works both consciously to help you out of the loops of automated behaviour and jealous feelings to teach you how to think and respond appropriately, and unconsciously to re-pattern the behaviour at a deeper level.

You can book a one to one with Debbie Williams here

People see Debbie sometimes as the last resort, desperately seeking a solution as a break up is on the cards;

Get some help or its over, their partner says, or many times its too late for that relationship or they are in a new one and are very fearful that they might ruin it just like the previous ones with their insecurities.

I guarantee you if you make a decision to focus on creating a healthy happy relationship as your goal it will happen, maybe with this partner, or maybe with someone that suits you even better.

Strong emotions associated with jealousy

Jealousy can trigger angry feelings, venomous, revengeful thoughts that are unpleasant for all, especially if you are playing a movie in mind of your partner up to no good, which then turns on the fight or flight response creating massive physiological changes.

Adrenalin is secreted, the heart starts pumping more, blood pressure rises, the sympathetic nervous system diverts the blood from the liver, the intestine and the stomach, and pumps it to the heart and the muscles. You now only see things in black or white, right or wrong, no other way.

 Jealousy and fight or flight

The body is preparing for action, it’s preparing to fight to defend itself and in this state it’s not uncommon to feel sick to the stomach creating problems with digestion.

Which only serves to fire them up even more, its time to change now and to only see what you really want, you with a partner with a smile on your face that tells you you have found the answers in mind and are truly happy because

Discovering NLP is like finding the owner’s manual for your brain for it gives you the ability to retrain your thinking and evolve and dissolve powerful negative emotions.

Jealousy I can’t help it…

When we react to jealousy it feels automated, out of our hands so to speak. I believe the reason the weight of the emotion is so great is our brain is a pattern matching machine, for example perhaps first time as a young child we were rejected (or felt we were).

We didn’t have words to express how we felt, imagine a parent says to a child you’re so naughty/bad, if you don’t stop we’re going to put you into a home with all of the other naughty girls and boys and you won’t like it.

The child becomes very quiet the parent sees oh that worked in stopping bad behaviour and perhaps does it again because children don’t come with owners manuals and your parents were learning too but as a child you don’t really understand and pictures form of you having to leave mom and dad which are frightening to you and as they are all you’ve ever known imagining that must feel awful.

Growing up feeling insecure

Of course the child grows up and doesn’t even think about it, has many positive experiences that counteracts that, so feels secure in himself but for a few they may have relationships, the first ones might even be ok.

But then someone inadvertently does something that fires off a similar pattern or even a facial expression that matches the look of the parent triggering the old emotion as it believes it’s similar.

As an adult you fill the gaps of what this feeling might mean with images of your partner leaving you or sleeping with someone else, perhaps laughing at your expense ultimately fires off anger, injustice, fear, dread and more.

Instant jealousy

All of this can happen in a heartbeat but as it feels powerful we think it important, so respond with jealousy as at some level we believe we are being violated or disrespected.

Jealousy is a one dimensional trance state, you’ve bought into your own internal reality which at that moment seems so real, it’s only when you’ve calmed down you realise how you’ve perhaps behaved then put a reality check in.

 Birmingham NLP Trainer can help

We want to give you the flexibility to have choice in your behaviour and to know how to communicate your needs in a better way.

One of the best questions that we can train our brain to look for solutions, is what do I need to learn to move on?

On track 2 of the freedom from jealousy programme you get to learn from others who are self assured and confident in relationships.

So you can experience a more mature way to respond to those old jealous feelings which we will shrink down to reassure you to help you believe you are loveable and deserve to be loved.

Jealousy replaced with better feelings and resources

So what we want to do here is rewire that automated pattern out and replace it with more resourceful ways so it’s time to pause and revaluate the situation so that you’ve got a memory of it but it’s very difficult to play again.

And how we’ll do that is by teaching you how you could have handled it in a better way and just like an athlete, practise success in mind over and over to give you the tools that you need and in trance we’ll practise any new behaviours/attitudes in mind to give you freedom from jealously.

One to one help for jealousy

When most clients come to us it usually takes one to three sessions and you can book your NLP and hypnosis session here.

For many this self help freedom from jealousy will help tremendously and will be more than  enough for others a one to one with a competent therapist will clear up anything that hasn’t  responded completely to these techniques especially if there is a history behind the jealousy i.e. abuse that needs further work.

OCD in Children

OCD in Children

Can NLP and hypnosis help my child who has OCD? is a question Birmingham hypnotherapist and NLP master practitioner is asked often.

And the short answer is yes

Obsessive compulsive disorder responds well to intervention with NLP as neuro linguistic programming is like finding the owners manual which gives you tools and techniques which can change the OCD type thought patterns.

Birmingham NLP trainer Debbie Williams has a OCD hypnosis recording which you can download for only £19 and goes a long way to explain what may be going on in a child’s mind with the OCD thoughts and compulsions.

It also explains some of the ways Birmingham hypnotherapist works to help with this problem. A one to one session would involve even more varying techniques customised to the particular child.

With OCD in children, less intervention is better

Debbie personally believes psychology or psychiatry doesn’t really sort the OCD issue out satisfactorily.  As a child Debbie was referred to both and has first hand experience.

Unless they have trained in NLP which is very much focused on solutions rather than understanding and looking for hidden causes which can take years.

And you still have the OCD problem, but now you know why.

Whilst helping Dr Richard Bandler ( co-founder of NLP) and Paul McKenna on over 50 NLP practitioner courses as well as teaching NLP for the adult ed and at Solihull college, Debbie has taught many psychologists and psychiatrists NLP techniques to help them with their clients.

Many are very open to NLP and others vehemently oppose it.

Birmingham NLP Trainer

Birmingham NLP trainer normally works with adults who have OCD and it can take 6-10 sessions spread over 12 months ( or more) to either eliminate OCD or reduce it so that its not a problem for them.

Most successful people have OCD type thinking strategies and it helps to motivate them to succeed. Debbie aims to switch the OCD type behaviour which is a problem onto a more useful and worthwhile goal.

The problem is when the OCD is focused on a negative ‘thing’  it becomes an issue as they are also extremely motivated and obsessed with it.

Working with children with OCD Debbie insists that one parent ( or both) are there in the NLP and hypnosis sessions. Normally 2-3 sessions are taken then a break to see if it is enough to steer the child into a better way of thinking.

When parents are present in an NLP and hypnosis session they will be able to pick up and continue the suggestions from the session back at home afterwards.

OCD in children; Helping the parents

With OCD in children having the parent come on their own to discuss how to help their child rather than bringing the child to see Birmingham hypnotist can also be very effective as Debbie can teach the parent some strategies they can use with their child.

Also Birmingham NLP trainer Debbie Williams website www.debbiewilliams.co.uk has free downloads to stop worrying and free life coaching.

There is a page with videos about negative OCD thinking patterns with ideas on changing thoughts. Plus details of how to contact Debbie and costs if you wanted to book a session.

How does hypnosis work

How does hypnosis work

Find out about hypnosis and how it can work for you.

Wondering about hypnosis?  Want to know how it works and if it would be right for you? Then see  below for a full description of what hypnotherapy is, how it works and how hypnotherapy can help you change and grow.

What exactly is hypnosis?

According to The British Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis states:

“In therapy, hypnosis usually involves the person experiencing a sense of deep relaxation with their attention narrowed down, and focused on appropriate suggestions made by the therapist.” Responding to these suggestions is what creates the change that is needed.

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep.  It does involve the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it you are actually in an enhanced state of awareness as you are concentrating on the hypnotist’s voice.

Milton Erikson The famous hypnotist once said ”Hypnosis is the loss of multiplicity of the foci of attention”  In this state your conscious mind is switched off and the subconscious mind is now actively listening.  Using positive suggestions and reinforcing change via the unconscious mind can plant post hypnotic suggestions to influence a brighter future.

What makes hypnosis work?

The hypnotherapist makes suggestions, ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations many times by telling stories allowing  seeds of change to become firmly planted.

How do these hypnotic suggestions work for me?

The hypnotic suggestions and skill in presenting them can vary from hypnotherapist.

Birmingham hypnotherapist Debbie Williams has trained and assisted Dr Richard Bandler and Paul McKenna since 1995 on over 50 NLP and hypnosis courses as well as training with Stephen Brookes and British Hypnosis Research.

A skilled experienced hypnotherapist draws upon their experience to carefully select useful suggestions for each client  helping them make the positive changes within themselves.

By focusing on positive outcomes many of the old patterns of thinking and behaviour will dissolve away.

Hypnotherapy aims to re-programme patterns of behaviour within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome.

What to expect during a hypnotherapy session?

When you hear the word hypnotist, what comes to mind? If you’re like many people, the word may conjure up images of a sinister stage-villain who brings about a hypnotic state by swinging a pocket watch back and forth.
In a clinical hypnotherapy session your therapist will begin with a chat to discuss your issues, finding out what you want and your expectations.

They will explain what is going to happen and reassure you if you are nervous in anyway.

You may be asked to make yourself comfortable in the chair, close your eyes and perhaps take a few deep breaths to help you to relax.

Try your Free hypnosis recording  now.

As you listen to the voice of your hypnotherapist you will find yourself feeling more comfortable.  For many it feels like taking a mini holiday from the stresses and strains of life.

During this relaxed trance-like state of hypnosis, breathing becomes slower and deeper, the pulse rate drops and the metabolic rate falls.   Similar changes along nerve pathways and hormonally channels enable the sensation of pain to become less acute, and the awareness of unpleasant symptoms alleviated.

During the hypnotic state, some report a feeling of extreme relaxation while others may feel a little detached and floaty.  Other individuals may remain fully aware and able to carry out conversations while under hypnosis.

A hypnosis session typically lasts between 20 – 30 minutes within an hours session. Many report that time simply vanished and they were not even aware how long they were in a hypnotic trance.

Can you be hypnotised?

While many people think that they cannot be hypnotised only a very few adults are considered difficult or impossible to hypnotise.

Anyone who can become easily absorbed in something being lost in a good book, a hobby or watching a movie. All are altered states of awareness.

If you are interested in being hypnotised it is important to remember to approach the experience with an open  mind.

Research has suggested that individuals who view hypnosis in a positive light tend to respond much better to the process. Try Birmingham hypnotherapist Debbie William’s;

Can I help make hypnosis successful for me?

The most important thing is that the you truly  want to change some behavioural habit or addiction and you are  highly motivated to do so.

You cannot come along and have hypnotherapy if you are doing so because someone else wants you to and you do not want to really change.

You have to want the hypnotherapy treatment to work.  It is also important to establish a good  rapport and feel a connection with your chosen hypnotherapist.

The readiness and ability of clients to be hypnotised varies considerably and hypnotherapy generally requires several sessions in order to achieve meaningful results.

However you can learn the technique of self-hypnosis which can be practised at home, to reinforce the usefulness of formal sessions with your therapist.

Using recordings specifically produced for your issue is also highly recommended to help accelerate changes.

You can experience a Free hypnosis recording  right now

Using recordings and additional NLP exercises can help counter distress and anxiety-related conditions when they come up.

By teaching you how to handle the feelings, thoughts etc the hypnotherapist gives you skills for life and harnesses existing resources so you can have ultimate control over how you want to live your life

Free yourself of the issues that have previously held you back.

Free hypnosis recording  Stop worrying and create a wonderful life.

 Common Misconceptions about Hypnotherapy!

You will not be put into a deep sleep and unable to move.

You cannot be made to do anything you would not ordinarily do.

You are never going to be put into a vulnerable position or given commands. You remain fully aware of your surroundings and situation.

Your Personal values and morals remain the same.

While hypnosis can be used to enhance sports  performance by using your mind to take on the principles used by those who are successful.

Binge Eating Testimonial and Feedback

Binge Eating Testimonial and Feedback

Hi Debbie,
I wanted to start by saying “Thank you” It has only been since the beginning of  May and I already feel a sense of freedom from my binge eating disorder!
Your technique is very powerful  and am happy I am feeling results so soon!
I purchased the Stop Binge Eating recording as well as the Lean for Life  NLP and hypnosis.
I received 10 tracks on weight loss with a lean persons mindset and 5 for stopping binge eating!
I have been listening to both the stop binge eating hypnosis trance and learning to be lean hypnosis trance in the morning and at night, also I have made time to listen to all the other mini tracks of strategies!
I was wondering if there is any specific order, and if doing both tracks one after another is fine!

Binge Eating Disorders Expert Replies;

Thank you so much for your feedback, its always great to hear.
You can listen to the stop binge eating and lean for life recordings in any order that feels right for you.
The more the you can listen the quicker you master better ways to be around food and be free from binge eating.
The lean for life is like the bible for mastering strategies of lean, healthy happy people.
Think long term as if you are studying for a diploma on lean, healthy strategies and keep going.
If there comes a point that you are predicting what I’m going to say next ( or you are getting bored of the ones you have) then get some others of mine and listen for a month or so and come back to your original ones.
